We’d been a two-man team since our inception in the summer of 2022, and we liked it that way, but often we’d discuss a particular business (and personal) milestone: hiring. Never did we think it would come so soon though. In the summer of the following year our workload was starting to stretch the two of us, and so we began to asses the reality of bringing someone new into the team. To cut a long story short: Matt became our first employee in November 2023. The problem? How do we announce such a milestone and appointment?

On Matt’s first day we asked him how he’d like to announce his new position. Never ones for letting a good opportunity pass, we floated the idea of doing something a little more than sharing a static “welcome to the team” headshot of Matt on LinkedIn. To our absolute joy, Matt’s suggestion was exactly what we’d spoken about the week prior: a football themed “new signing” parody. Never ones for leaving an idea at that, it soon snowballed into an epic series of three videos complete with teaser posts and a “word from the player himself” thrown in, with the final announcement falling on January 31st: Transfer Deadline Day.
